The Indian Culture which is thousands of years old has been admired and appreciated all over the world. From the Northernmost tip of Kashmir to Southernmost tip of Kanyakumari India is a true example of Unity in Diversity.
With twenty-nine states and seven Union territories, the Indian Culture is beautifully Stitched together. As you will move from one state to the other you will find variations in Language, Customs, Religion, Food, Traditions, and Philosophy.
India is not only a land of Multiculturalism but also multilingualism. It is rightly stated that the language spoken in India changes every few kilometers just like the taste of water.
India is one of the most religiously diverse nations in the world. The major religions practiced in India are Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, Buddhism. Besides minor religions practiced are Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Baha’i faith. Atheism and agnostics also have visible influence in India.
Indian Food which is appreciated all over the world is no doubt one of the best tastes you can relish. Due to the range of Climate, Soil, Culture, and ethnic groups, the Cuisine varies from place to place. It also varies from Season to Season depending on the fruits and vegetables available. The staple food in India includes Wheat, Rice, and Pulses.
Varying from the Central Asian influenced food in Kashmir to Southern Cuisine which is dominated by Sweet coconut, Fish and Rice. While the Northern platter is dominated by spicy food. In Western states of Rajasthan and Gujrat which are dominated by stretches of Desert, the food is mostly cooked using dry lentils, beans, dairy products and liberal use of ghee along with millet and barley bread.
Indian clothing is a blend of various traditions influenced by Climate and Culture. There is Diversity varying from Colors to the type of cloth draped in a variety of ways. Historically the Indian Clothing evolved from simple Saree, Dhoti, Kurta, Lungi, and Gamcha.
The Indian Culture is also depicted in the monuments which have been build from time to time, varying from region to region. Adorned with beautiful pictures, Scriptures and art the Indian Architecture is in itself a beautiful depiction of the Culture of people of India for ages. The Taj Mahal built by Shah Jahan, one of the Seven Wonders of the World is a pride for all Indians.
The various Temples with beautiful Architecture built in various regions influenced by the local culture of the area are a marvelous example of the diverse culture of the Country. All in all the beautiful blend of Culture that we see in India is unique. Mark Twain rightly said-
