Still on the off chance, that you have been living in any other galaxy till 2019 and don’t happen to know much about this festival, then let me tell you that Sunburn Festival is India’s biggest Electronic Dance Music (EDM) Festival. It attracts music fans and some great artists from around the globe. The fest has created a great fan base and is one of the most awaited festivals every year!
Sunburn Festival history?
The Sunburn Festival was back in 2019 with a bang for its 13th anniversary. This festival initially took off in the year 2007 in Goa. It was organized by Percept, an Entertainment, Media, and communication company when it introduced the concept of Dance Music to India. Since its inauguration, the festival was continually organized in Goa for a decade after which it was shifted to the hills of Pune for three seasons. However, after a long wait, it seemed like the prayers of the die-hard Goan fans of the festival were answered. Hence this year the festival was shifted back to the sultry beaches of Goa!
What is the big deal about the Sunburn Festival?
In the 13 years, the Sunburn Festival has created a brand name for itself. It has gone global from being a local fest. After the Tomorrowland and Ultra, it is that one occasion that pumps your blood and buzzes your senses. The festival boasts of a crowd gathering from more than 40 nations where some 3,50,000 people come together to unwind and to enjoy some much-needed down-time after the long year.
The three-day-long festival of 2019 held at Vagator beach in Goa this year was nothing short of a great celebration and was a perfect occasion to relax. The fest completely lived up to its hype and as expected, was attended by music enthusiasts in large numbers. At the fest, the scenic beach of Goa enchanted the soul of masses while its electric vibe bewitched the crowd to the music!
During the fest, among the many genres, some of the really popular ones which made the event lively and fun were played. They included Techno, House, Trance, Psy-trance, Hardstyle, Drum and Bass music. Many great DJs and artists also participated in the event where they presented live enthralling performances by some of the greatest artists from across the globe. Some of the internationally applauded names that were part of this year’s lineup included celebs like Above and Beyond, Swedish House Mafia, Armin Van Buuren, Goldfish, Dimitri Vegas, Mark Knight, Afrojack, Alan Walker, DJ Snake, etc.
What were the celebrations like?
To call the sunburn festival that was held between 27 to 29 December 2019 only a music festival would be an understatement. This festival was, very much in fact, more like a carnival with a bunch of activities that were taking place here.
During the pre-event hours some very interesting workshops which offered the visitors an opportunity to learn some fun skills like kite workshops, puppet workshops, drum workshops, etc. were held. There were also some workshops that were engaged in offering music lessons to those music enthusiasts who wanted to learn how to strum a guitar or blow a trumpet.
There were also a host of exciting activities that were held before the events of the day begin to make sure that the adrenaline junkies would not feel bored. With the event going back to its roots in Goa, there was no chance of a shortage of adventure as many attendees during the fest chose to use their free time to enjoy the banana ride and to experience other water sports. They also used this opportunity to explore Goa and to enjoy its after-party places, flea markets, karaoke sessions, movie screenings, etc.
Apart from this the delicious food, the crazy and fun-loving crowds, the exciting parties, the maddening dance, and the mind-numbing adventures, further added to the appeal of Sunburn.
Conclusion
The Sunburn Festival truly was an amazing experience this year. The crowd there got an opportunity to revel in the unlimited craziness and had loads of fun at the carnival. But if you are one of those people who missed their chance to attend the festival this year, then don’t sulk because you can always get your chance to attend it the next year! So, come on get up and plan for your trip for 2020!
